We had the great privilege to do some engagement photos with Tod & Paula a few months back. On May 17th, we got to follow that by photographing their wedding.
The venue of choice was the River Creek Lodge in Stony Point, N.C. The lodge itself was beautiful and the lake presented itself a fantastic natural backdrop, while the couple exchanged vows across the lake in a pavilion with a beautiful overlook of the water.
The big moment of the day that everyone remembers is, of course, the couple's first kiss; and it's very important we capture that moment. But away from the spotlight, the little details tell big stories themselves. Things like the broach in the bouquet or the table settings are wonderful, important memories to look back on years down the road.
There are lots of details to figure out when photographing a wedding. Our goal is for the couple to be able to forget about us and have one less thing to stress about on their big day. Then, when they're back from their honeymoon, they'll have their pictures to look through at their leisure.
Weddings are some of the most enjoyable moments to photograph. From building a relationship with the new couple, to the challenge of sorting out all the technical aspects to capture a beautiful picture, to finding the perfect perspective to show the moment honestly and beautifully; photographing weddings is hugely enjoyable and most of all provides the couple and the families with memories for a lifetime.
