Why you should put your iPhone cameras down and call us :)

Ok so yes I know a pretty bold title! I was weary about it too when I started to type it.  It has some truth to it, but I will get to that a little later.

Photography is an art.  Just like painting, drawing, dancing, acting, sketching, singing, or playing an instrument.  It's an inner expression of ones passions in life.  We are artist.  The canvas God has painted and we through learning from other experienced photographers and through self expression try our best to capture His creation.

By no means have we even scratched the surface of God's beautiful creations.  He is the ultimate artist.

Boyd and I love what we do! Really for us the best part is building relationships.  We love leaving a shoot with new friends and happy clients. We strive for each session to be fun and bring out what makes you well, you! God made each person so unique and special and if you are enjoying yourself that really shines and shows.

Okay, so now why should you be putting your iPhone cameras down and calling us?  First of all when I say "us" I don't mean it has to be Boyd and I.  I mean for you so ask yourselves, "Is convenience better than thought out decision making?"

How often do we make decisions off of impulse and then look back and say, "Man, if I would have just thought that out a little bit more the outcome could have been so much better."?

Now the metaphor I am using here is something photographers struggle with today.  The convenience of smart phones.  Smart phones are getting better and better and so are their cameras.  Don't get me wrong I enjoy being able to take a quick shot of Zoey and post it online in a snap, but I also know the benefits of getting out my Cannon or Boyd's Fuji and taking a well thought out picture.  The process is longer and may take some editing and possibly some advice from Boyd, but it will be looked at from all angles and perspectives to get the best outcome.

Now, decision making.  I don't know about you, but my best decisions are the ones I sit and pray/think about, get council for, and look at all possible options.  We tend to think we know best, but God begs to differ.  Many times the answer is no or not right now.  Yet we insist on doing it anyways only to find that we should have given it a little more time and prayer.

I say this all to encourage you friends.  When was the last time you dwelled in the presence of God before making a major decision, or any decision for that matter?  I am convicted by this very thought myself and want to make it a habit to ask, pray, seek council, look at all options/perspectives and THEN decide.

As for choosing Boyd and I (or any other photographer) over your iPhone, well thats your choice ;)

James 4:3

You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions

Isaiah 55:8-9

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
